1971 Chevrolet Custom Camper Special Chevrolets top of the line heavy duty truck in 1971 This truck is a California born and raised that has only seen three different owners since it was new. It is one of the few trucks that you will see that have remained virtually un-molested after 38 year of services. The changes made to this truck are all upgrades that have made it a better driving and handling vehicle with increased towing power and performance. Some of the features of that the Custom Camper Special received over Chevrolets standard trucks where: A 3/4ton load capacity that employed all heavy duty was the use of a Dana 60 limited slip differential, Large leaf springs with built in overloads, rear fender well mounted 18 Gal. saddle fuel tanks, a heavy gage steel inner bed liner, heavy duty sway bars and 8 lug wheel hubs with large wheel bearings and power front disc brakes. The cab was equipped with dash mounted A/C, a custom designed interior that features special embossed door panels and ceiling pad. The 1971 was the last year Chevrolet used the classic wood slats in the beds of their pickups. This truck has been recently refreshed and rebuilt throughout making it a great driving, handling, and powerful classic work horse that is fun to use as well as a unique conversation piece wherever it goes.
